A ‘must do’ experience
One of the must do experiences while in Rotorua is a trout fishing charter or a cruise to famous Te Rata bay and it’s hot water springs and beaches. Within 15 minutes from Rotorua city you can be on our boat ‘Nimue’ and you will be in with a chance to catch one of Lake Tarawera’s famous and fabulous rainbow trout.
If time permits you can even sample your catch cooked in the hot springs on the lake edge, a bit like natures Sous Vide machine… The methods we use are jigging, soft baits, trolling, harling with a fly rod and fly fishing, these all depend on the time of year and where the fish are in the water column.
Our charters are private exclusive charters for you or your group. The boat rate is $325 per hour and we suggest a 3 hour charter to best experience the time with us. Refer to our rate page .
Tarawera’s boat fishing season is from the 1st October to the 30 June. (There are fly fishing and spin fishing options from the shoreline from the 1st July to 30 September).
Nimue is surveyed for up to 20 people and depending on the time of the year and what fishing technique there can 8 to 10 people fishing at one time. Please contact us for a great time in our very special part of New Zealand.
We can provide scrumptious BBQ menus for breakfast, lunch or dinner, catering from finger food to a three course menu, or have your catch cooked in the hot thermal springs on the lakes edge. Tea, coffee and light refreshments are included, we are also fully licensed and a selection of beer and wine is available for purchase.
